Mondays & Thursdays 7:00-8:30pm
Saturdays 8:30-10:00am
Each adult class is one and a half hours, covering basic movements, techniques, and self-defense. Beginners, Intermediate and blackbelt students are all welcome to attend General Classes. Emphasis is placed on practicing, developing and applying fundamentals under supervision to ensure the correct form is learnt and reinforced. General aikido classes usually begin with a warm up, a review of individual basic movements and then paired practice with set techniques. As the class progresses emphasis may change to speed and stamina, applying basics in self-defense situations or more advanced techniques.

At Aikido Yoshinkai NSW (AYNSW) we firmly believe in establishing solid ties within, and contributing to, the community. As such, the Aiki Kids Club is an aikido program dedicated to providing a safe and fun environment for kids to better themselves and grow as individuals while at the same time learning a traditional Japanese martial art.
All AYNSW instructors have registered working with children checks.
AYNSW has registered and been approved as a provider within the NSW Government Active Kids program.
Research has shown that one in six Australian students are bullied every week and that those children are three times more likely to develop depressive illnesses (Rigby, 1997). AYNSW Chief Instructor, Darren Friend, is a certified Rock & Water instructor, an anti-bullying program in the Netherlands, and has woven elements of Rock & Water into the AYNSW kids program, combining lessons in martial arts with strategies to escape targeting and to stand up and support friends.
Members of the Aiki Kids Club can enjoy many benefits:
The kids improve their general fitness, flexibility, and coordination levels.
Individual aikido goal & personal responsibility review of the commencement of each team.
Strategies to recognize and avoid bullying behavior.
Learn discipline and respect for others.
Self-confidence and self-esteem become stronger.
Develop better social skills in non-competitive group activities.
Have fun while learning something challenging and beneficial to physical health and general well-being!
Exposure to Japanese language and culture.
